hat with this knowledge clergy will be able to guide their congregations away from fear and toward peace in realizing that while the body may be affected, the spirit continues to be whole and beautiful just as God created it.This information is offered to you from my experience in being in the presence of my mother who had frontotemporal dementia and my experience in being in the presence of the beautiful individuals with whom I have the honor to work every day.I began my journey knowing nothing about dementia, however, I did believe that my mother’s spirit was whole and beautiful regardless of what was happening to her brain and therefore my knowledge about dementia followed my belief.I offer clergy some information that I hope is helpful to support you in your role as comforter, consoler, teacher and guide in this human experience.Peace to you and thank you for being a much needed presence in the lives of those living with dementia.Rev.
